28 Years Later Sequel Gets Wild Early Reviews: 'Bonkers' Horror
Early viewers are raving about the upcoming zombie horror sequel, warning audiences they'll need strong stomachs for the intense brutality and standout performances ahead.
Just weeks ahead of its theatrical debut, early viewers have shared their thoughts on the highly anticipated zombie horror follow-up, and the feedback is remarkably enthusiastic. Critics are warning moviegoers to brace themselves for an exceptionally intense experience.
"This has cranked everything up to 11, and I warn you, you will need a very strong stomach (or a sick bag)," Metro's Tori Brazier cautioned. Christopher Mills from Nexus Point News went even further, describing it as "one of the greatest horror movies of the decade, as it takes the first movie and goes 10 extra miles with the brutality and intensity of the world."
New Director Brings Fresh Vision
While Danny Boyle directed the previous installment, Nia DaCosta has stepped in to helm this continuation, earning widespread praise from industry watchers. Rachel Leishman from Collider noted that "Nia DaCosta brought her unique style to this world in a captivating way."
Empire's Amon Warmann added his support, stating "Yet more evidence that when you let Nia Da Costa cook, great things tend to happen." Giovanni Lago from Next Best Picture highlighted how "DaCosta's introversion of this world juxtaposes so precisely with the groundwork laid before her by Boyle."
Standout Performances Draw Acclaim
Two actors are receiving particular recognition for their work in the film. Jack O'Connell portrays the menacing cult leader Jimmy Crystal, while Ralph Fiennes takes on the role of the quirky Dr. Kelson.
GamesRadar+'s Will Salmon observed that "It's nastier and – surprisingly – funnier than the first part, with mesmerizing performances from Jack O'Connell and Ralph Fiennes." Matt Neglia from Next Best Picture specifically praised O'Connell, saying "Jack O'Connell, meanwhile, is disturbingly hilarious as the unhinged St. Jimmy, a man fully convinced he's the devil's own son."
