Following its box office triumph over competing films, the Timothée Chalamet vehicle secures its digital future through renewed studio partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery's platform.

Following its victory over One Battle After Another in domestic ticket sales, Marty Supreme continues building momentum as one of A24's most successful releases. The studio's box office win has coincided with a renewed streaming agreement with HBO Max, extending a partnership that began in 2023 when A24's previous Showtime deal ended.

This collaboration gives HBO Max subscribers access to A24's award-winning catalog, boosting the platform's subscriber numbers. Royce Battleman, executive VP of Warner Bros. Discovery's global content acquisitions, praised the partnership: "A24 has been an incredible partner, bringing a slate of talented creative voices and an engaged audience base to the platform. Their bold storytelling perfectly complements the distinct programming offered on HBO Max."

Digital Release Timeline Remains Unclear

The film is expected to hit video-on-demand platforms in early February, with reports suggesting a February 3 launch date. The streaming window hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

Current performance metrics show strong numbers across the board. The movie holds an 8.2 rating on IMDB and earned 93% from critics and 83% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Box office receipts have reached $79.4 mn so far.

Oscar Campaign Could Delay Streaming Debut

With Academy Awards season approaching, A24 might postpone the streaming release to maximize award potential. Chalamet recently won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical, positioning both the star and the film as Oscar contenders.

Award buzz typically drives VOD sales, as demonstrated by last year's Anora success. Marty Supreme appears positioned to benefit from similar factors once it reaches digital platforms.

Strong theatrical performance suggests A24 will prioritize VOD revenue before announcing streaming availability. With the Oscars scheduled for March 15, an April or May streaming debut seems most likely.

Chalamet Proves Box Office Appeal

The film's theatrical success has settled debates about Chalamet's drawing power as a leading man. While many argue traditional movie star culture is fading in favor of franchise properties, the Dune actor represents a notable exception.

Chalamet has consistently delivered audiences for both major studio epics like Dune and smaller character-driven projects. His three consecutive holiday box office wins demonstrate reliable commercial appeal. With Dune 3 on the horizon, his status as a bankable star appears secure.
