Anthony Ramos Reveals Truth About Stalled Transformers-G.I. Joe Movie
The actor behind Rise of the Beasts admits he's completely in the dark about the promised crossover film, urging fans to pressure studios as corporate mergers complicate franchise futures.
Anthony Ramos knows about as much as everyone else regarding the promised Transformers and G.I. Joe team-up movie. That's basically nothing.
The actor, who starred in 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, admits he's completely out of the loop on the crossover project that was teased in his film's closing moments. Nearly three years have passed since those scenes got fans excited about seeing robots and military heroes share the screen.
Studio Shuffle Creates Uncertainty
When MovieWeb pressed Ramos about the project's status, his response was telling: "Come on, talk to Paramount. I mean, everybody's buying everybody now. So Paramount, talk to Skydance or talk to whoever ... all of them, just hit them up, if you've got their number. Shout them out."
The comment points to a bigger issue. Paramount's ongoing merger talks with Skydance Media have left both franchises in limbo. No official release date was ever announced for the crossover, making it impossible to track delays or progress.
From Toy Box Dreams to Big Screen Reality
Back in the 1980s, kids could only imagine Transformers and G.I. Joe working together by mixing their action figures during playtime. Both toy lines came from Hasbro, and occasional Easter eggs would pop up in cartoons and comics. But nothing substantial ever materialized.
Rise of the Beasts changed that dynamic completely. The seventh live-action Transformers movie didn't just hint at G.I. Joe's existence. The film's final scenes explicitly introduced the secret military organization, creating what felt like a Nick Fury moment from the early Marvel movies.
The G.I. Joe franchise has produced three films so far, while Transformers has churned out seven live-action entries. Both properties have dedicated fanbases, yet their promised union remains stuck in development hell.
What's Next for Ramos
While fans wait for any crossover news, Ramos will appear in FX's upcoming thriller series The Beauty, premiering January 21. The show follows FBI agents investigating mysterious deaths among international supermodels, uncovering a virus that creates physical perfection with deadly consequences.
Ramos plays "The Assassin," working for a tech billionaire who engineered the dangerous beauty drug. The global thriller spans Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York as agents race to stop a threat that could change humanity forever.
Various producers have claimed the Transformers-G.I. Joe crossover will definitely happen. But with corporate reshuffling at Paramount, both franchises face an uncertain future. Maybe fan pressure will help, as Ramos suggests. Or maybe studios need to figure out their own business first.
