Beloved Fantasy Anime Returns After Decade-Long Wait
After more than ten years of silence, a cherished fantasy series has shocked fans worldwide with the surprise announcement of new episodes currently in production.
Supporters of a cherished fantasy series had given up all expectations of witnessing new episodes, but holiday magic appears to be real as the continuation of this acclaimed animated show has just been confirmed! Now that Mizuho Kusanagi's source material has reached its conclusion, the program's official social media account announced that the screen adaptation will finally move forward, with fresh episodes currently being developed.
More than a decade has passed since the debut season premiered, transforming the early chapters of the popular source material into 24 episodes that ran from October 2014 through March 2015. The original work, which began publication in Hana to Yume magazine back in 2009, spans 46 collected volumes, though the television adaptation has only covered eight of those so far.
Fan Reactions Pour In
Social media exploded with emotional responses following the announcement. "Please say this is real," one supporter posted online. "I'll cry if this isn't true," another wrote, while a third added: "OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY ALL MY LIFE. I'M SO HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO WITNESS THIS."
However, not everyone shared the same enthusiasm. Some viewers expressed doubt about the timing, with one noting it could be a marketing tactic: "I'm so tired of these advertisements. This is OBVIOUSLY to boost final sales. It will never get full adaptations and it's also not for demand of the fans... it's just a glorified advertisement. Specially true for shoujo."
The Story Behind the Excitement
The narrative takes place in the imaginary realm of Kouka, centering on Princess Yona who must leave behind her protected palace existence when a childhood companion orchestrates a rebellion and murders her father. With assistance from her devoted guardian Hak, the teenage royal must evolve from an innocent princess into a fighter, traveling throughout the Kouka territory to locate the mythical four dragons capable of helping her rescue her homeland.
While fans await additional information, many hope this development represents genuine commitment rather than mere promotional strategy. With the animation industry experiencing unprecedented growth and fantasy themes gaining popularity among audiences, there's potential for this series to capture significant attention once again.
