Field of Dreams Actor Fights Child Abuse Charges as Revenge Plot
Timothy Busfield, who starred alongside Kevin Costner in the 1989 classic, now faces serious allegations involving two young actors from The Cleaning Lady series. The veteran performer claims the accusations stem from a bitter dispute over casting decisions.
Timothy Busfield, known for his role opposite Kevin Costner in the baseball drama, now confronts serious criminal charges involving minors. The veteran actor insists the allegations represent retaliation from an angry parent whose children were removed from a television production.
According to reports, Busfield believes the accusations arose after two young performers were dropped from The Cleaning Lady, a series where he served as executive producer and director. The children's mother allegedly fabricated the claims following this professional decision.
Criminal Charges Surface Against Veteran Actor
Authorities in Albuquerque issued an arrest warrant on January 9 for Busfield on multiple counts. The charges include two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse. The alleged incidents involve two boys, ages 7 and 8 at the time.
The accusations first came to light when a medical professional reviewed the case in 2024. Law enforcement received the complaint in 2025, leading to the recent warrant. The alleged inappropriate contact supposedly occurred between November 2022 and spring 2024.
Police investigators and counselors examined the claims throughout the past year before moving forward with formal charges.
Television Production Connection Revealed
Busfield's work on The Cleaning Lady spans multiple seasons as both producer and director. He helmed one episode in season two, three episodes in season three, and two episodes in season four. The actor also appeared on screen in a small role as an immigration officer during season four.
The series, created by Miranda Kwok, features Elodie Yung, Martha Millan, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, and Sébastien LaSalle in major roles. The show has run for four seasons, with Busfield maintaining significant behind-the-scenes influence throughout its production.
His involvement with the young actors allegedly occurred during his directorial duties on set. The mother claims her sons experienced grooming and abuse during this period of collaboration.
