Despite losing his recent boxing match, Jake Paul walked away with an astronomical payout that dwarfs even Hollywood's highest-paid action star's biggest movie salary.

The boxing world was stunned when Jake Paul suffered a knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua on December 19, but the financial details that emerged afterward were even more shocking. Paul reportedly earned a staggering $92 million for just 16 minutes and 29 seconds in the ring, according to multiple reports. The total purse for the fight reached $184 million, split equally between both fighters.

To put this in perspective, Paul's single-fight earnings exceeded Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's highest Hollywood salary by nearly double. Johnson's biggest payday came from the 2023 film "Red One," where he earned $50 million. This means Paul made almost twice as much money in less than 17 minutes than one of Hollywood's most bankable stars earned for an entire major motion picture.

Hollywood's Highest Earners Still Trail Behind

The comparison becomes even more striking when looking at other A-list actors' biggest paydays. Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. each earned $75 million for "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and "Avengers: Infinity War" respectively, including profit participation deals. Sandra Bullock took home $70 million for "Gravity," while Johnny Depp earned $68 million for "Alice in Wonderland."

Even these astronomical Hollywood salaries pale in comparison to what Paul earned in a single evening. Johnson's other notable film earnings include $23.5 million each for "Red Notice" and "Jumanji: The Next Level," $22.5 million for "Black Adam," and $22 million for "Jungle Cruise." His earlier career saw him earning $20 million for both "Hobbs & Shaw" and "Skyscraper."

Paul's Boxing Career Proves Lucrative Despite Setbacks

This wasn't Paul's first massive payday in the boxing ring. His previous fight against Mike Tyson generated an $80 million purse, netting him approximately $40 million. His earlier matches showed steady growth in earnings: $1.2 million against Nate Robinson, $2 million versus Tyron Woodley, $1.5 million fighting Anderson Silva, and $3.2 million against Tommy Fury, not including his 65% share of pay-per-view revenue.

Paul himself hinted on social media that the actual numbers might be even higher, cryptically posting "$267 Million" when asked about his earnings, though this figure remains unverified.

Recovery and Future Plans

Following his defeat, Paul revealed the physical toll of the fight, stating his jaw was likely broken. He posted images of his injuries on social media while already calling for his next challenge. In a post-fight interview, Paul acknowledged Joshua's superiority: "Anthony's a great fighter. I got my ass beat, but that's what this sport's about. I'm going to come back and keep on winning."

Despite the loss, Paul remained optimistic about his boxing future, describing it as "a nice little ass-whoopin' from one of the best to ever do it." He expressed his continued commitment to the sport and his goal of eventually winning a world championship belt.
