Kristen Stewart's Most Cringe Twilight Line Still Haunts Her
The actress opens up about one particular scene from New Moon that makes her cringe every time she thinks about it, revealing her ongoing embarrassment over a specific line.
Every performer has moments they'd rather forget, particularly when it involves awkward dialogue from their earlier work. Kristen Stewart certainly falls into this category, and she's never been shy about sharing her honest thoughts on the matter.
Stewart has evolved into one of Hollywood's most candid commentators, which makes sense given her unique career trajectory. Transforming from the face of a massive vampire romance franchise into one of today's most respected and dynamic performers takes considerable effort. Beyond her acting prowess, Stewart consistently speaks out on important industry issues.
Speaking Truth to Power
Recently, she examined how gender influences method acting approaches, explaining that performing is naturally "embarrassing," which might explain why male actors gravitate toward method techniques to build confidence before facing cameras.
Stewart has also criticized Hollywood's business-focused mentality while discussing her decade-long struggle to direct The Chronology of Water. "Without being ungrateful, we need a workaround," she shared with The New York Times. "Having it be so impossible for people to tell stories is capitalist hell, and it hates women and marginalised voices, and it's racist. It's too hard to make movies right now that aren't blockbuster-y, proven equations."
The Twilight Shadow
This same brutal honesty extends to her own performances, including roles that make her uncomfortable looking back. Despite her impressive post-Twilight career, discussions about the vampire saga inevitably surface whenever her name appears in entertainment news, regardless of her more significant subsequent work.
The franchise has taken on a life of its own, creating mixed feelings among its cast members. Robert Pattinson has openly shared his complicated relationship with the series, alternating between casual dismissal and diplomatic appreciation—a typical response to campy films that launched major careers.
That One Unforgettable Line
Stewart faces similar conflicted emotions, though hers center on specific dialogue that continues to bother her. During an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she recalled a particularly difficult moment from New Moon involving her co-star Taylor Lautner.
The scene required her character, Bella Swan, to comment on Jacob Black's physical appearance. "There was this one line that I couldn't deliver at all, which is so embarrassing because I was so embarrassed," Stewart explained. "The most embarrassing thing is to look at yourself be embarrassed. There was this thing I think where I was supposed to say to him, to Taylor, like something about his muscles or something. Where it was like 'Hey Biceps.' I think I was like 'Hey. Hey, bi, bi, biceps.' Oh God. And that's in that film forever."
Her discomfort seems entirely reasonable, especially considering she's not alone in having delivered memorable Twilight dialogue. The films spawned countless internet memes, including Lautner's own "Bella, where the hell have you been, loca?" and Pattinson's unforgettable "This is the skin of a killer, Bella."
