Megan Fox says she’s ready to return as Jennifer Check in a Jennifer's Body sequel, signaling she would reprise the role if a new installment moves forward.

The first tangible sign of a return to Devil’s Kettle just surfaced: a new listing in Production Weekly points to a fall start for a follow-up to Jennifer’s Body, according to a July 17 report from World of Reel. The project has not been officially announced by 20th Century Studios, but the trade log note places a target start in October.

A Production Weekly listing pegs an October start.

Casting is the big question. Megan Fox has not been confirmed, and there’s been no official word on any deals for returning players. Amanda Seyfried has said in recent interviews that she’s game to come back and has made clear she wants Fox alongside her, but the studio hasn’t weighed in.

Where the cast stands

  • Amanda Seyfried — has publicly said she’s in and wants Fox back
  • Megan Fox — no confirmation yet
  • Creative team — no official announcement from 20th Century Studios

Released in 2009, the original horror-comedy followed Fox’s Jennifer, a small-town cheerleader turned succubus who feeds on male classmates, and Seyfried’s Needy, the best friend forced to confront her. The movie underperformed in theaters but found a second life over the next decade as a cult favorite, especially as viewers reappraised its sharper satire about friendship, exploitation, and power.

At the time, critics were split — the film sits at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes — even as many praised Diablo Cody’s crackling dialogue and the two leads’ performances. Its afterlife has only grown, fueling years of sequel chatter that now appears closer than ever to becoming real.

For now, there’s no release date, distributor plan, or confirmed cast list. If the October timeline holds, expect concrete casting news to arrive ahead of cameras rolling.
