Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Confirms DC Talks — Not for Batman
Alan Ritchson has confirmed he’s talked with the DCU about playing a character — and no, it’s not Batman.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Alan Ritchson told fans he’s been in talks with DC Studios about joining James Gunn and Peter Safran’s overhauled DC Universe — and reiterated that the role is not Batman. He kept the character under wraps and said no deal is in place yet.
Even if something clicks, don’t expect him to suit up immediately. The actor reportedly has film and TV commitments stacked through 2028, so any DCU appearance would have to fit around that packed calendar.
The Batman question
Ritchson once again waved off the popular fan-casting of him as Bruce Wayne. The Brave and the Bold — the upcoming movie set to introduce a new Bruce Wayne alongside his son Damian Wayne — still hasn’t named its Caped Crusader. For now, Gunn and Safran’s team are feeling out where Ritchson might fit elsewhere in the expanding DCU.
The speculation is understandable: thanks to Reacher, he’s on the short list any time a big, brawny hero comes up. But he made it clear at Comic-Con that if he enters the DCU, it’ll be in a different corner than Gotham’s Dark Knight.
From Robin to Hawk
This wouldn’t be the first time Ritchson landed a different DC character than the one he originally chased. Before Titans, he auditioned to play Dick Grayson/Robin — and walked out so sure he’d nailed it that he treated himself on the spot.
“I walked away so confident that I got the part that I bought a Tesla that day,” he said.
When the call came, it was for Hank Hall/Hawk instead. Brenton Thwaites ultimately played Dick Grayson, while Ritchson’s Hawk became one of the show’s most hard-charging, loyal teammates.
DC hasn’t announced who Ritchson might play — or when he’d appear — and the studio still hasn’t revealed its Batman for The Brave and the Bold.
