Tessa Thompson Eager for MCU Return, Just Maybe Not Doomsday
The Valkyrie actress hints at her willingness to rejoin Marvel's cinematic world while staying coy about specific upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated Avengers film.
Marvel stars have mastered the art of saying nothing while saying everything. Tessa Thompson just demonstrated this skill perfectly when asked about Valkyrie's potential appearance in the upcoming superhero blockbuster.
Thompson dodged direct questions about her involvement in the Robert Downey Jr. vehicle during a recent interview promoting her Netflix series His & Hers, where she stars opposite Jon Bernthal. When pressed about confirmation, she kept things diplomatic.
Marvel Universe Appeals Remain Strong
"Oh, [I'm] not able to confirm anything," Thompson told The Playlist. But would she want to step back into that world? "Yeah, definitely."
The actress praised the creative environment that Marvel provides. "And I think this is the coolest thing about hanging out inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: all the incredible people that you get to play with, both the incredible craftspeople that create these worlds, all the amazing directors that they invite into these spaces, and all of the incredible talent."
Character Versatility Draws Her Back
Thompson highlighted the tonal flexibility that Marvel projects offer. "And also, I think there are so many tonal spaces you can go to inside of a Marvel movie," she explained. "You can explore drama and comedy, and there's so much to do."
Her connection to Valkyrie runs deep. The character has appeared across four films and two animated television shows, facing everything from cosmic threats to undead armies. "And I just love the character so much that I would always be interested. For sure."
Boxing Ring Beckons Too
Marvel isn't the only franchise calling her name. Thompson expressed equal enthusiasm about returning to the boxing drama series alongside Michael B. Jordan's character.
"We love those films so much," she shared. "And I think there's still more to say if audiences want to show up. I think we want to be there for them and with them."
Whether wielding Asgardian weapons or supporting ringside fighters, Thompson seems ready for whatever role comes next.
