Story and setting
Lucy returns home to help Bridget in the final stretch before the wedding and ends up face to face with Felix, the person she promised herself she’d avoid. Old feelings flare, and Lucy has to decide whether protecting her friendship means walking away from the love she never really let go.
The series moves between past and present, tracing summers of near-misses, buried feelings, and the ways Lucy and Felix grew up apart — and maybe back toward each other — against the backdrop of Prince Edward Island.
The first season runs 10 episodes.
Billed as a romantic drama, This Summer Will Be Different is currently in production for Netflix. It’s adapted from Fortune’s bestselling 2024 novel and filmed with an eye on the island’s coastal scenery that factors into the story’s push and pull.
