The 73-year-old Hollywood star faces losing his Los Angeles residence after falling $60,000 behind on rent payments. His crowdfunding campaign has already raised over half its $100,000 target.

The 73-year-old Hollywood star has turned to crowdfunding after receiving an eviction notice for his Los Angeles residence. Rourke launched his GoFundMe campaign on January 4th following reports that he owed $60,000 in back rent.

The "Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home" fundraiser has already collected more than $51,000 toward its $100,000 target. Supporters have responded quickly to help the former action star avoid losing his home.

From Hollywood Icon to Financial Struggles

The fundraising page describes Rourke as someone who "entered American cinema like a force of nature" during the late 1970s and 1980s. Back then, he represented something unique in Hollywood: "danger paired with vulnerability, toughness paired with heart."

The campaign organizers explain how the entertainment industry "moved on quickly" after Rourke's peak years. They created the fundraiser with his permission to help him fight the eviction threat.

"Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability," the description states. "What remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing, and the chance to regain his footing."

Recent Controversies and Legal Disputes

Rourke's career took multiple hits over the years due to his controversial behavior and outspoken views. The industry eventually distanced itself from the once-celebrated actor.

His most recent public appearance was on the British reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2025. Producers removed him early after he made inappropriate sexual and aggressive comments toward two female contestants.

The actor also claims broadcaster ITV owes him money from that appearance. In April 2025, Rourke announced plans to sue the network, alleging he received only $50,000 of his agreed $500,000 fee for participating in the show.
