Patrick Söderlund reveals numerous entertainment companies want to adapt the hit extraction shooter, but quality concerns keep deals off the table for now.

Patrick Söderlund, head of Arc Raiders developer, has rejected multiple Hollywood pitches to turn the popular extraction shooter into movies and TV series. The studio chief says entertainment companies constantly approach his team about adapting the gaming IP.

"I can't tell you how many companies have reached out to us wanting to make a TV series [or] movie out of this IP. So many," Söderlund explained in a recent interview. "We don't mind doing that, it will be fun, but it needs to be done in the right way. I mean, I hope that we will do that. I think the IP fits quite well with something like that."

No Active Projects in Development

Despite the flood of interest, no adaptation projects are currently moving forward. Söderlund made clear that his studio hasn't committed to any specific deals yet.

"We don't have anyone working on a TV or film adaptation yet," he confirmed.

Game's Commercial Success Drives Interest

Arc Raiders launched in October 2025 to strong reception from both critics and players. The extraction shooter has moved an estimated 12 mn copies since release. Peak concurrent player counts have hit over 3 mn users.

This commercial performance has caught Hollywood's attention. Multiple studios are reportedly pursuing rights to bring the game's world to screens, though specific companies and deal terms remain undisclosed.

Gaming Adaptations Gaining Momentum

The interest in Arc Raiders comes as video game adaptations continue gaining traction in entertainment. Fallout's second season is set to air on Prime Video. The Return to Silent Hill movie hits theaters January 26, 2026.

Several other gaming properties have adaptation projects in various stages of development for 2026 and beyond.
