MCU Chief Abandons All Projects for Two Massive Avengers Films
Marvel's top executive has made a shocking decision to step back from the entire MCU empire, dedicating every waking moment to just two upcoming blockbusters that could make or break the franchise's future.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has made a dramatic shift in his approach to running the MCU. For an entire year, he's stepped away from his usual hands-on management of multiple projects to focus exclusively on two upcoming Avengers movies.
The days of Feige juggling dozens of Marvel productions simultaneously are over, at least temporarily. Industry insiders reveal he's been laser-focused on Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars for twelve straight months.
Complete Strategic Overhaul
"Feige has been so stretched thin with the TV shows and all these other things, and then maybe doing Star Wars, and all these things," Deadline's Justin Kroll explained during a My Mom's Basement podcast appearance. "He has been solely focused on this and Secret Wars for, like, a year straight. Like, this has been it."
This represents a complete departure from Feige's previous management style. He's delegated significant responsibilities to other executives, including letting Amy Pascal handle much of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day development.
Back to Basics Approach
"He put Jake Schreier on as the director last year of X-Men. Other than that, he's kind of let Amy Pascal handle a lot of the Spider-Man stuff," Kroll continued. "So, just know that, people. He's in London all the time. If that dude has his mind set on just the one thing, like he used to do back in the day with Iron Man or Thor, they turn out good. It's when he has, like, eight other things, it gets a little tougher."
This strategy mirrors Feige's early MCU days when he concentrated on individual projects rather than managing an entire cinematic universe.
High Stakes Gamble
The pressure couldn't be higher for these two films to succeed. Marvel's recent theatrical releases have struggled to match the cultural impact and box office dominance of 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
Both Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps failed to generate the excitement Marvel hoped for in 2025. The Fantastic Four particularly disappointed, losing its top Disney Plus streaming position to Freakier Friday after just one week.
Other MCU projects like Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again season 2 continue development, but with minimal input from Feige compared to his usual involvement. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
