Makoto Yukimura directly addresses speculation about the anime's third season, clarifying his lack of involvement in any current production plans while expressing his own hopes for the series' future.

Makoto Yukimura has personally stepped forward to address swirling speculation about Vinland Saga's third season. The manga creator took to Twitter to set the record straight after rumors began circulating that production had already begun on new episodes.

"To all the Vinland Saga fans, thank you as always," Yukimura posted. "I just learned a moment ago that there's a rumor going around that season 3 of the anime Vinland Saga is currently in production. That information hasn't reached me yet. I hope it's in production... But man, animating Hild's crossbow and stuff like that must be really tough, right."

Creator Offers Production Help

Yukimura didn't stop there. His follow-up message revealed both humor and genuine enthusiasm for potential future episodes. "But I think the rumor starts because there are many people who want season 3," he continued. "Thank you. I am also one of those who wants season 3. Now I have some free time, so I can help out on the production site with something. Like going out to buy lunch boxes or whatever."

The creator's lighthearted offer to assist with mundane production tasks shows his dedication to seeing his work adapted again. His mention of Hild's crossbow suggests he's already thinking about the technical challenges animators would face in bringing later story elements to life.

Series Background and Timeline

Yukimura spent two decades crafting the Vinland Saga manga, running from 2005 through 2025. The anime adaptation launched in 2019 with its first season, followed by a second batch of episodes in 2023.

The initial season tracked Thorfinn's transformation into a Viking mercenary following his father's death, driven by revenge. Season two jumped forward in time, showing Thorfinn's changed circumstances and his encounter with Einar, a farmer who had also lost family to violence.

Fans have been vocal about wanting more animated content. The gap between seasons one and two was four years, making supporters anxious about when they might see Thorfinn's story continue on screen.
