Will Arnett Steps Into David Harbour's Role in Tony Gilroy's Musical Drama
The Arrested Development star joins Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde in the filmmaker's tribute to movie music creators after Harbour's unexpected departure from the project.
Tony Gilroy isn't sweating David Harbour's sudden exit from his latest project. The Andor creator found his replacement in Will Arnett, who's stepping into the role that Harbour vacated in Behemoth!
The film celebrates movie music and the artists behind it. Arnett joins an impressive lineup that includes Pedro Pascal from The Last of Us, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Alexa Swinton, Margarite Levieva, and Barry Livingston.
Pascal's Method Acting Approach
Gilroy, who earned Oscar nominations for directing Michael Clayton, recently discussed Pascal's dedication to his character Alex Serian. The actor has been spotted carrying a cello around town as preparation for playing a musician.
"He's a cellist in the film. He's practicing the cello very diligently and plus, we want him to be able to carry the cello anywhere he can," Gilroy explained on Lovett or Leave It.
Learning from Past Productions
The director drew parallels to his experience on The Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves. "When Keanu first came in I remember we were like, 'He's gonna be a lawyer? Oh my God...', and I remember Taylor Hackford said three months out: 'You gotta put a suit on now and you're never f****** taking that suit off until we start shooting', because he looked so weird in a suit."
Three months of constant suit-wearing transformed Reeves completely. "He'd worn a suit everywhere he ever went and he had, like, it worked. And carrying a cello case will turn you into a cellist if you do it long enough," Gilroy added.
